Antwerpen - Police Monument

The war memorial, made entirely of bluestone, for the police officers who died in both world wars, was donated to the city on January 4, 1952 by "De Dag der Politie".

It is centrally located on the square bordered by Pol De Montstraat, Alfred Coolsstraat, Volhardingstraat and Edgard Casteleinstraat. As indicated by inscriptions on the spacious pedestal, it was designed by Willy Kreitz and executed by Clément Jonckheer fils, who together were also involved in the realization of the war memorial at the Merksem cemetery. A staircase, at the top with the inscription "The population to its fallen police officers", leads to the platform with four monumental naked male figures, adorned with sword and helmet
