Single grave at Couin Communal Cemetery, France. Sergeant Victor Alexander Douglas McPHEE – 2006 - 4th Field Amb. Australian Army Medical Corps. Died 10 April 1918. He was a bank accountant before enlisting at the age of 24 in 1914. Killed in action 3 weeks after being recalled from leave in the UK. In his will he donated part of his money to the « Belgian Relief Fund »

 

The Commission for Relief in Belgium (CRB) was an international organization responsible for food supply in Belgium and in Northern France during the German occupations during the First World War. Herbert Hoover, who would later become President of the United States, was a leading figure in the organization.
