Book presentation “The Razzia”
During a raid in Molenbeersel in Limburg in August 1944, just before the liberation, Timmie van Diepen's family was hit hard. Five people from the same family did not survive the war, including his great-grandfather Willem. The action appears to be retaliation for the attack on a German soldier. Strangely enough, no one seems to know afterwards why this family's inn was targeted in the first place.
In De razzia, historian and journalist Timmie van Diepen looks for answers. He reconstructs the day in question on the basis of thousands of pages of court documents, witness interviews and interviews with dozens of people involved and relatives.
