Nécropole nationale de Biaches

The national necropolis of Biaches is a French military cemetery from the First World War located on the territory of the municipality of Biaches,  During the Battle of the Somme in 1916, Biaches formed a salient on the Somme, which was the scene of very violent attacks. The place called La Maisonnette, located on the heights of Biaches overlooking Péronne, was taken and retaken during fierce fighting, seven times by each camp.  From 1920 to 1936, the remains of soldiers from other disused military cemeteries in the department were transferred to this necropolis. The national necropolis of Biaches was renovated in 1974.

The area of this cemetery is 0.6 ha. 1,362 remains of French soldiers are buried there, including 1,040 in individual graves and 322 in two ossuaries.
