Vimy, France - Candlelight Ceremony 9th November 2018.

The Government of Canada hosted a special event combining light and music to honour Canada and Newfoundland’s fallen heroes of the First World War.

Visitors were invited to lay a candle on the Vimy Memorial in memory of those who served and to reflect on the sacrifices of those who did not return home. The event also included Indigenous spiritual ceremony and dance, musical and ceremonial performances by the Canadian Armed Forces, and a unique 3-D lighted tribute to the approximately 66,000 Canadians and Newfoundlanders who gave their lives in the name of peace and freedom.
