Tournai Allain Communal Cemetery

History Information

The cemetery contains the graves of military victims of the First and the Second World War. It concerns FOUCART François, Alveringem 9 July 1915 and CHAVALLE Valery, who died in captivity in Thal am Harz (Germany) on 20 July 1943.

There are also the graves of civilian victims of the Second World War: HURBAIN Cathérine, DUHAUT Henri and FRANCOIS Jeanne. They were killed in a German bombing raid on 10 May 1944.

Monument at the entrance of the Tournai-Allain cemetery, in memory of Herman Planque, who refused to work for the Germans during the First World War. He died on April 29, 1917 as a result of the hardships of his imprisonment.
