Käthe Kollwitz Museum, Koekelare 

Become acquainted with Käthe Kollwitz, her son and her work at the unique brewery site. The Käthe Kollwitz Museum houses a collection of original artworks by this German artist.  You discover how Käthe rebelled against war and poverty through her expressionist work.  The museum also portrays Käthe Kollwitz as the mother of Peter, her son who lost his life. In the concluding section the museum examines her work in relation to the contemporary art world.

In Flanders Käthe Kollwitz is mainly known for the statue 'Grieving Parents', a masterpiece that now stands at the German military cemetery in Vladslo (Diksmuide).
