Lieutenant John Gordon Kavanagh was killed at Rha (between Dieren and Brummen), a month before the liberation of the Netherlands. His body was buried in a field grave and his remains were transferred to the general cemetery in Steenderen in 1947.  The tombstone reads 'A soldier of the 1939-1945 war'.
