DELSAER Gaston-Alfons, Breendonk 11 April 1944, one of the 24 Partizans that were killed in Fort Breendonk on 11 April 1944.

Gaston Delsaer is a miner, born in 1922 and lives in Zutendaal. He is affiliated with the partisans. Because he worked irregularly, he was ordered to work in Germany on March 20, 1943. He only stays there for a few weeks, then he walks and goes into hiding. He is being intensively tracked down. His mother testifies: “He was then wanted by the gendarmerie and then by the gestapo. They also came to my house looking for it.” She emphasizes: “I would like to point out that the gendarmerie has also come to search.” By this she undoubtedly means the Squadron S of the gendarmerie in Hasselt. On January 17, 1944 at five o'clock in the morning, Gertrudis Vandewal's house in Neeroeteren, where Delsaer was hiding, was raided. He is arrested and the house is set on fire.
