New Irish Farm, Belgium - Remembrance Ceremony

On Tuesday 5th February 2019 a remembrance service was held for Kiro Luke Adam, the only Cook Islander to lose his life in Belgium while serving with the Maori Battalion.

The service for the Rarotonga-born soldier was organised by the Friends of the In Flanders Museum and included addresses by Trust members Freddy Declerck and Marijke Vandevyvere.

The buglers were from the Last Post Association. The traditional Cook Islands chair, which will join the museum’s collection of chairs representing the nationalities of all who died in Belgium, was at the graveside for the New Irish Farm service.
