Vlissingen Jewish Monument

Historical Information

On 22 March 2016, 74 years later, a monument was unveiled by the relatives of forty deported Jewish residents of Vlissingen. They were deported on 24 March 1942. By shuffling sand from Israel into a box, the deceased were symbolically buried in consecrated ground. Then the names of the victims were read out by Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs and a minute silence was held.
