St Niklaas RAF Monument

The Avro Lancaster LL851-BQ-V "London's Pride and Joy", RAF, crashed in the night of 21-22 May 1944 at Heimolen. The entire crew 5 English and 2 Canadians lost their lives. They found their final resting place in St. Niklaas cemetery.

Took off 2240 21 May 1944 from RAF North Killingholme. shot down by a night- fighter crashing 0215 22 May 1944 into a field owned by Albert Van Hoornick at Heimolen between the Wever and Heimolenstraat some 3 km S of Sint Niklaas.
