Antwerpen, Belgium - Stolen Memory at the MAS.

The #StolenMemory container tells the gripping story of ten deported prisoners, their stolen possessions and the relentless search for their families. Some of their last belongings are still kept in the Arolsen Archives. After a tour through various European countries such as Germany and Poland, the expo now has a stop at the MAS. The tour is one of the ways in which Arolsen Archives continues to search for the owners of those valuable personal items. Since the start of #StolenMemory, about 600 items have already been returned to families all over Europe, including in Belgium. For our country, a handful of 'cold cases' remain in the 'personal effects' collection. Still, the quest continues unabated.

The MAS and Arolsen Archives supplement this traveling exhibition with an extra presentation for the first time: in the Kijkdepot on the second floor you can view a unique collection of repatriated documents of 14 Belgian concentration camp prisoners. There are also displaced items on display that Arolsen Archives hopes to return to Belgian families. A ring, a fountain pen, a watch, photos,... In addition to the authentic pieces, get to know the gripping stories of the people behind the objects.
