2. Yves Van Der Burch

He was born on January 6, 1918 in La Hestre, son of Adrien Van der Burch and Marie-Henriette de Wavrin de Villers au Tertre. He is a member of the Secret Army and ARA (Intelligence and Action Agent) and of the "Zero" Group. Following his clandestine activities in the service of the Resistance, he was arrested in July 1943. He died on March 16, 1945 at the Plattling camp, which depended on the Flossenburg concentration camp. His body, buried in a mass grave, has never been identified. It is in his homage that his name appears on the commemorative stele affixed to the wall of the communal vault.


3. Fernand Dupont

He was born in Ecaussinnes-Lalaing on February 27, 1892. He was single. Knight of the Order of Leopold II with Palme Croix de Guerre. Decorated with the Victory Medal and the 1914-1918 War commemorative medal. He was killed, facing the enemy, at ADINKERKE on June 12, 1915.


4. Famille Rogmans

Emile ROGMANS was born February 4, 1890 and his brother Léon, July 17, 1891. Both are farmers. Patriots, they helped many people in the Resistance. Emile was deported to Germany on November 11, 1916, on the day of the deportation of the workers in Ecaussinnes and was released on April 14, 1917. Léon, arrested in July 1944, was deported to Germany and was declared dead in May 1945. The family ROGMANS operated a small farm on rue de Ronquières. VASSILI MOSIENKO (photo), born in Mikailvoska on September 27, 1921, nicknamed "Manuel", a Ukrainian soldier, is hidden by the Rogmans family. He is buried in the family vault.


5. Jules Siot

He was born on February 16, 1920 in Feluy. He worked as a stonemason. During World War II he joined the Resistance. He was arrested by the Gestapo, on the denunciation of the Rexist burgomaster Fernand Renaux, on February 17, 1944. He died of illness in captivity in a camp on November 4, 1944. His official funeral was celebrated on December 12, 1948.


6. Georges Vitoux

He was born on June 16, 1892 in Ecaussinnes-Lalaing. He was a Corporal in the 2nd Grenadier Regiment. He was killed in the fighting at Saint-Jean-lez-Wilke on September 28, 1918.


7. René Dutrieux

Caught in the Raffe of June 9, 1944 in Ecaussinnes, he was to be shot. He was pardoned following the intervention of Madame Perlinghi and deported to Germany as a political prisoner and released in 1945.


8. Paul Lenclud

He was born on June 4, 1918 and died on December 26, 1975. Soldier and fighter of the Second World War, member of the Secret Army, he joined the Resistance where his action was marked by his participation in the fighting of Ronquières in which Anselme MARY lost his life.


9. Maxime Moulin

He was born on February 20, 1920, husband of Germine DELALIEUX. In 1939-1940, he carried out his military service with the rank of sergeant. During the month of May 1940, during the 18 days campaign, he was injured. Taken prisoner of war in Boulogne, he walked to Jemelle where he was released. He joined the resistance as a section chief of the Secret Army, which led to his being arrested in June 1944 and deported to Germany in Buchenwald where he was freed. In 1958, he was appointed head teacher in Marche-lez-Ecaussinnes, then director of the boys' school at the "Odénat Bouton" municipal school until 1977. He died on March 23, 1998.


10. Famille Castelain

Cellar of the Castelain family. First World War: Ursmar CASTELAIN was born on August 24, 1888, husband of Marguerite DEGLIMES, appointed municipal schoolteacher in Ecaussinnes in 1908. A major war invalid, he died on June 4, 1931. Second World War: Max, their son, born on January 26, 1912, doctor of medicine. Arrested on July 30, 1942, he contracted tuberculosis during his captivity. He died at the end of July 1945, overcome by illness, in Magdeburg.
