Wilrijk, Belgium - Placing of "2 Stolpersteine" 14 April 2024

Today, Sunday 14th April 2024, two “Stumbling Stones” were placed in Wilrijk.

Robert Broeckhovestraat 43

Placing of a stumbling stone for Robert Broeckhove in Wilrijk, resistance fighter. In January 1942 he was arrested and taken to prison in Begijnenstraat. After held in Breendonk he was deported to the Mauthausen concentration camp, where he died in August 1942.

Letterkundestraat 98

Placing of a stumbling stone for Jan Verstraeten in Wilrijk, ship repairer and resistance fighter. Deported to Buchenwald in August 1944 and died on the Death March from Buchenwald to Terezin March 12, 1945.
