Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium - Funeral Service 6th November 2018.

Burial service for two unknown Australian soldiers and one unknown British soldier at  Tyne Cot Cemetery.

A joint burial ceremony was held at the CWGC’s Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium at 14.00h on Tuesday 6 November 2018 for three soldiers.

Their bodies were found during roadworks near Passchendaele in December 2015. Despite extensive investigations by the Australian Army’s Unrecovered War Casualties team and the UK’s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre it has not been possible to identify the three men. Respective investigations will be reopened by the Service Authorities should future information make identification possible.

It is known that two of them were Australian servicemen and that the British soldier was serving with the Lancashire Fusiliers when he died. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission will mark their graves with headstones bearing these details.

The joint service has been organised by the Australian Army and the UK’s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre and attended by senior Australian and British Political, Diplomatic and Defence representatives, Regimental representatives, CWGC staff, and local dignitaries.
