Dear Danielle,

Thank you so much for taking the photographs of my great-great uncle's grave at Heilly Station Cemetery. These will mean a great deal to our family. I hope to go to there to pay my own respects before too long but, in the meantime, it's so good to have your photos.

With kind regards,

Hi Danielle
Came across your entry in the Blighty Valley Cemetery so looked you up.  What amazing things you do to help others.

My partners grand father served in WW1 somewhere in The Somme, unfortunately wedon’t know much about his story. He was one of the so called lucky ones as he survived and was a POW for a while.

We are visiting cemeteries and memorials in honour of all the people that died in awfulness of WW1.
Very humbling and moving

Private Samuel Peers, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), Schoonselhof Cemetery, Belgium

I recently discovered that my great great grandfather died serving in the Great War. While I am an American, my father is British and so is his father after him. I have never have been able to afford to travel outside of the United States. It would mean a lot to me if you could photograph my great great grandfather’s gravesite. The only information that I am positive about is that he died in 1918 serving in France and Flanders.

Thank you so much!

John White

Thank you for visiting the War Grave at Paradis Lestrem my uncle was a young man 17 / 18 at the time when caught in the massacre. I'm 72 and have visited a few times, I noticed in the visitors book that my other uncle his brother (his name is also John White) visited last year. We're all getting older and it would be nice to know that someone still visits and name and events are not forgotten.

Many thanks

Hello Danielle

Thank you so much for taking the photo of Sidney Harrison' grave. His daughter-in-law is still alive but very elderly and so is not able to travel to see the grave for herself. She will be very grateful to you.

Sidney was a hero, winning the military medal for bravery on the battlefield. His daughter-in-law has his medal citation and his Dead Man's Penny which she treasures and I know she will treasure the photo too.

Very best wishes and many thanks

Hello Danielle -

Thank you so much for the photo of my ancestor’s grave. It means a great deal. I think what you do is fantastic. Until I started my family history research I didn’t know that some of my ancestors had lost their lives during the First World War.  I visited Belgium twice when I was young and enjoyed it very much. I remember visiting Antwerp among other places.

Again many thanks.

Hi Danielle, just wanted to send you a huge thank you for spending your time to find and take photos of my great grandfather's gravestone, Nicholas Joseph Sheridan (Bethune Town Cemetery), I can't tell you how much I appreciate it :)

I have some photos of my granddad but nothing to relate to my great Granddad Nicholas, so these photos are the first & only tangible connection I'll probably ever have with him.  In a weird way it instantly makes me feel so much closer to him.

Again, thank you so so much for this.  I think what you do is an incredible selfless act of kindness and it makes me feel so happy there are good people like yourself out there in the world.

Warmest regards,

Nick Sheridan.

John Edward Tilley on Thiepval Memorial

Thank you so much Danielle, for photographing John's name for me on the Thiepval Memorial. I only recently found out he is remembered there and what he and his army unit went through during the battle of the Somme in 1916. Funnily enough, I visited Thiepval in 2012 but I didn't know my family history at that time. I remember looking up at all the names and wondering what had happened to them all. So there you go, now I'll have to visit again one day and see John's name for myself. My quest goes on, I'm trying to find a picture of him now ... who knows if that'll happen or not. Once again, many thanks to you for the volunteer work you do, you are a true angel. X

Kind regards
