Echtz Communal Cemetery
Field of honour with 22 German war graves from the Second World War. Some are buried in a communal grave. The site was redesigned in 1971, and one headstone, belonging to a 22-year-old radio operator made of black marble, was likely retained during the redesign.
Private Arnold Clahsen – Radio Operator – born on March 28, 1923, in Konzendorf (Echtz), Germany.
He had just completed his commercial schooling when, on April 20, 1942, he was called up for military service in Poznań, Poland. After two years of training, he was assigned to the fighter squadron "Horst Wessel."
On June 20, 1944, he was killed, barely 21 years old, while participating in the terrorist attack on Szczecin, Poland, and is now buried in the municipal cemetery in Echtz, Germany.
