Vredehof Cemetery in Nijmegen holds the remains of 44 Dutch soldiers who fell during the Second World War. One of them is Jan van Hoof (Knight's Cross 4th Class of the Military William Order), a Nijmegen resistance fighter who narrowly prevented the Waal Bridge from being blown up during Market Garden.
