Lommel German War Cemetery

The largest German military cemetery (Kriegsgräberstätte) from World War II in Western Europe is situated in Lommel.  Since 1946 38.560 soldiers who died in WW2 and 542 from WW1 are buried here. During the fighting in Belgium and Germany (mainly at Aachen and Düren) the Americans buried the German dead provisionally on 4 temporary cemeteries from which they were later brought to Lommel.

Thousands of German soldiers who have died on Belgian soil found here their last resting place.
