The British Expeditionary Force was involved in the later stages of the defence of Belgium following the German invasion in May 1940, and suffered many casualties in covering the withdrawal to Dunkirk.
Denderwindeke Communal Cemetery contains one burial of the Second World War. On entering the cemetery take the first path on the left. The war grave is the second headstone in the second row of headstones on the right.
