Torhout Communal Cemetery

War Memorial and Tomb Oud Kerkhof Torhout

established in 1949. This monument also serves as a headstone. On the back are the names and photos of the war victims.  A combination of a general memorial on public land (on the street side) and a shared crypt (on the cemetery side) is unique in Belgium.

On the municipal cemetery of Torhout, there are 11 Belgian WW2 graves  and political prisoners including 1 unknown, who died in Torhout during the 18-day campaign in May 1940.
