1943 Air Gunner Makes Good- Mentioned as having taken part in a heavy raid on Nuremburg on Tuesday night, 27-year-old Flight Sergeant Edward O. Deveson, of Fraser Street, East Fremantle, studied hard to become an air gunner. His wife revealed that her husband worked conscientiously for several months to qualify for air crew. He left the North Fremantle State school when in the ninth standard, went to work at Westralian Soaps Ltd., rising to the position of foreman before war broke out. Anxious to fly, he attended Fremantle Technical School four nights a week for six months while awaiting a call-up in the R.A.A.F. Flight-Sergeant Deveson will be 28 in October. His younger brother Roy, who was also employed by Westralian Soaps Ltd., has been reported prisoner-of-war in Malaya. Parents Mr and Mrs A.
