Reporters Memorial Bayeux

The Reporters Memorial in Bayeux is a unique monument in Europe that honors freedom of the press by commemorating journalists and war correspondents who have died in the line of duty since 1944.

The promenade is lined with white stones, engraved with the names of more than 2,000 fallen journalists from around the world. Each year, a new stone is unveiled during the Bayeux War Correspondents Awards to honor those who risked their lives reporting on conflicts, a joint initiative of the city of Bayeux and Reporters Without Borders.
